Wangaratta is a city located approximately 250 kilometres north of Melbourne off the Hume Highway. Industries include manufacturing, transport and distribution and the city is a hub for infrastructure and civic services. Wangaratta is pleasantly located at the base of the Great Alpine Road one of Victoria’s most popular and picturesque tourist routes through the Victorian High Country and gourmet food region.
Wangaratta has a boutique shopping culture and is home to the Wangaratta Festival of Jazz and Blues. For the walking or cycling enthusiast the Murray to the Mountains Rail trail extends from Wangaratta to Bright following the route of the former rail trail. Wangaratta has several primary schools, a foundation to Year 12 Anglican college, a government high school and a Catholic secondary college.
