Dinner & Networking – Dr Shannon Welsh

November 9, 2021 @ 6:30 pm 8:30 pm

These events are regular opportunities for student, junior doctors and professionals in the Hume region to learn from experts that reside in or consult in the region. Each forum will present a different topic, at a different location, and is a great chance to network with your colleagues whilst broadening your knowledge.

This event will feature a Palliative Care Case Presentation by Dr Shannon Welsh, incorporating a panel discussion that involves Steve Pitman – Nurse Practitioner, and Mick Dobson – Occupational Therapist

Dr Shannon Welsh is a Rural Generalist Registrar undertaking Advanced Specialised Training in Palliative Care at Albury Wodonga Health. His current role includes inpatient care, outpatient clinics and community care from Corryong to Mount Beauty. Prior to studying medicine, he flew fixed wing and rotary wing aircraft as a pilot in the Royal Australian Navy. He then studied medicine at Deakin, followed by an internship with the Murray to Mountains program.

Shannon has since had jobs in emergency medicine, obstetrics, anaesthetics and general practice – all whilst living in beautiful Rutherglen. His main clinical interests include skin cancer surgery, emergency medicine and palliative care. His Wife, Amber, runs the very successful Amberesque B&B in Rutherglen and his two kids enjoy the natural beauty and outdoor adventure that this region has to offer.
